Packers Not Expected To Sign Veteran RT Eric Winston

Update:

Aaron Nagler of CheeseheadTV.com, citing a league source, reports that the Packers do not have plans to sign veteran RT Eric Winston and will instead move forward with their current options.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN mentions that the Packers could be considering signing veteran RT Eric Winston to a contract following the injury to Bryan Bulaga.

However, Demovsky points out that there’s nothing concrete as of now regarding the Packers bringing him in.

Bulaga is dealing with a sprained MCL and is hoping to test it out next week. Green Bay’s backup option is former first-round pick Derek Sherrod, but he struggled mightily against the Seahawks last night, so they could look for an upgrade in the coming days.

Winston, 30, signed on with the Seahawks back in late July after finding very little interest as a free agent. He accepted the position as the NFLPA president, which some have mentioned could have been the reason for the lack of interest.

Seattle wound up cutting him loose as they reduced their roster down to 53 players last weekend.

Last year, Winston appeared in all 16 games for Arizona, but graded out as the No. 69 tackle in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.
