Packers Have Discussed Signing Veteran ILBs Including NaVorro Bowman

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Packers have discussed veteran options at inside linebacker following the season-ending injury suffered by Jake Ryan, including NaVorro Bowman.

However, Pelissero adds that the Packers are currently focused on their young guys for now with Ahmad Thomas being someone who has stood out.

Bowman has drawn surprisingly very little reported interest since the free agent market opened back in March, even though he’s been one of the best available inside linebackers.

Bowman, 29, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was in the second year of his seven-year, $77 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.75 million for the 2017 season when the 49ers released him.

The Raiders later signed Bowman to a one-year, $3 million contract and he’s now in position to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Bowman has appeared in 15 games and recorded 127 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
