Packers Discussing A Contract Extension With NT Letroy Guion

The Green Bay Packers are working on a long-term contract extension for impending free agent NT Letroy Guion, according to his agent, Seth Katz.

“We’ve had some very, very early conversations,” Katz said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “The Packers are obviously focused on the postseason, but we know how they feel about him, and they know he wants to be back. We’re not making it a secret that he wants to stay in Green Bay.

The Packers rarely look to the free agent market for upgrades to their roster, but there is no question that the Guion signing proved to be a steal for Green Bay.

Guion, , signed a one-year, $1 million last March, which proved to be a great move not just because of his low salary, but because they lost veteran DT B.J. Raji for the season with a bicep tear.

This year, Guion recorded 62 tackles, 3.5 sacks and has been a solid run-defender in the middle the Packers’ defense.

We’ll have more regarding negotiations between the Packers and Guion as the news is available.
