Packers Expected To Bring Back TE Jimmy Graham For 2019 Season

Ian Rapoport reports that the Packers will prepare for the offseason with the belief that TE Jimmy Graham will be brought back for the 2019 season.

According to Rapoport, Green Bay plans to pay Graham the $5 million roster bonus he’s due on March 15.

Graham’s first year in Green Bay did not live up to expectations and some wondered whether the Packers may elect to cut their losses on him now. However, it appears as though new HC Matt LaFleur would like to have him as part of their offseason in 2019.

Graham, 32, is a former third-round pick of the Saints back in 2010. He spent five years in New Orleans before he was traded to the Seahawks in return for C Max Unger and a first-round pick.

Graham played out the final year of his four-year, $40 million contract before agreeing to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Packers last year. He stands to make base salaries of $3,450,000 and $7,450,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Graham appeared in 10 games for the Packers and caught 34 passes for 452 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 linebacker out of 70 qualifying players.
