Rob Demovsky reports that the Packers are expected to keep DC Mike Pettine’s defensive staff in place following the news that they’re expected to hire Matt LaFleur as their next head coach.

Ian Rapoport confirms that the early expectation that Pettine will remain in Green Bay, but the call will be made by LaFleur once a deal is in place.

Pettine, 52, began his NFL coaching career with the Ravens as an assistant defensive line coach back in 2002. He spent seven years in Baltimore before taking over as the Jets defensive coordinator in 2009.

Pettine spent one year in Buffalo with the Bills before being hired as the Browns’ head coach for the 2014 season. The Packers hired him as their defensive coordinator last year, replacing Dom Capers.

In 2018, Pettine the Packers’ defense ranked No. 12 in yards allowed, No. 14 in points allowed, No. 22 in rushing yards allowed and No. 9 in passing yards allowed.
