Packers Expected To Release Chad Clifton & Keep Donald Driver

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that sources have told him that the Green Bay Packers are likely to cut OT Chad Clifton and restructure WR Donald Drivers contract.

Clifton, 35, has been with the team since he was drafted back in 2000 but releasing him should free up some extra space. Bryan Bulaga is expected to shift over to the left side of the offensive line and take Clifton’s place

The situation with Driver is much more interesting because his roster spot is almost more value than the money that he’s making. The Packers have stashed two upcoming receivers on their practice squad and have told them that they’ll have a shot at making the team so it will be interesting to see if they end up losing either or them.
