Packers GM Ted Thompson’s New Extension Keeps Him In Place Through 2018

Ian Rapoport reports that the recent contract extension agreed to by the Packers and GM Ted Thompson will keep him in place for another three years.

  • This means Thompson will be running the Packers through the 2018 season.

There was some talk that Thompson could be nearing the end of his time as the Packers general manager, but he cleared that up after the two sides announced the extension back in late July.

Thompson and team president Mark Murphy have said that signing HC Mike McCarthy to a similar extension remains a priority for them.

With this in mind, it would make sense for Green Bay to get a deal worked out with McCarthy sooner than later.

McCarthy and Thompson have been a very successful tandem in Green Bay that has resulted in numerous playoff appearances and a Super Bowl title in 2011.
