Packers “Holding Out Hope” Aaron Rodgers Can Return In Week 15

Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports the Packers are “holding out hope” QB Aaron Rodgers can return from injured reserve for their Week 15 game against the Panthers.

Demovsky admits that this could be a long shot for Green Bay, but they’re at least hoping it’s a possibility.

The Packers officially placed Rodgers on injured reserve Friday, which will cost him at least the next eight weeks, but it makes sense for them to save one of their designated to return designations for Rodgers if he’s able to come back later on in the season and they’re still in the mix for a playoff spot.

Green Bay will move forward with Brett Hundley as their starting quarterback with Joe Callahan operating as his backup.

Rodgers, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2005. He’s currently in the fifth year of his seven-year, $130.75 million contract that included $54 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $12.55 million and $19.8 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Rodgers has appeared in six games for the Packers and thrown for 1,385 yards while completing 66.3 percent of his passes to go along with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 83 yards.
