Packers Hosting TE Jermaine Gresham For A Visit, Not Discussing A Contract

Update:

Rob Demovsky reports that early indications are that the Packers aren’t discussing a contract with free agent TE Jermaine Gresham, who visited with the team on Thursday.

As of now, there appears to be a solid market developing for his services, which includes teams like the Bears, Raiders, Cardinals and Saints.

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Packers are hosting free agent TE Jermaine Gresham for a visit this week.

Green Bay has said that they have no plans to release TE Andrew Quarless, who was arrested for firing a gun twice during an altercation. However, this would indicate that they’re at least willing to consider all available options.

Gresham met with the Cardinals earlier in the week, but recent reports have said that he planned to meet with other NFL teams.

The Saints reportedly have made Gresham a contract offer and he nearly agreed to a contract with the Raiders, so they figure to be in the mix for him as well.

Gresham, 27, is clearly one of the best available free agents. However, he diagnosed with a herniated disc a few months ago and wound up undergoing surgery, which took him out of the running for a number of jobs around the league.

In 2014, Gresham caught 62 passes for 460 yards receiving and five touchdowns over the course of 15 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.

We have Gresham listed as the No. 2 player in our Top 25 Best Available Free Agents list.
