Packers ILB Blake Martinez Out Multiple Games With MCL Sprain

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Packers ILB Blake Martinez is expected to be out multiple games with an MCL sprain.

This is terrible news for a Packers’ defense that has already lost LB Jake Ryan and has been forced to play multiple backup players in the secondary this season.

Green Bay was forced to promote LB Carl Bradford to their active roster last week but they’re going to have to sign another linebacker or move Clay Matthews back to inside linebacker.

Martinez, 22, was taken in the fourth-round of this year’s draft. He’s currently in the first year of his four-year, $2.7 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

This year, Martinez has appeared in all 10 games and recorded 63 tackles, no sacks, an interception and four pass defenses for the Packers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 52 linebacker out of 84 qualifying players.
