Ian Rapoport reports that the Packers are looking to interview Lions DC Teryl Austin for their defensive coordinator position.

The Packers also plan to interview secondary coach Darren Perry for the job.

Austin is currently under contract with the Lions, but is meeting with the Bengals on Friday, so it’s clear that he be coaching elsewhere in 2018.

Earlier in the day, Alex Marvez reported that Perry is the “front-runner” to become the Packers next defensive coordinator. Perry won’t interview for the job until Saturday, but he’s clearly someone to keep an eye on in the coming days.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy also plans to interview Winston Moss and Joe Whitt for the job along with some external candidates that could include Vic Fangio.

There was some early buzz that Fangio was the guy to watch for Green Bay. However, it appears as though McCarthy may want to promote from within for this position.

Austin, 52, began his NFL coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2003 as their defensive backs coach. He had stints with the Cardinals and Ravens before the Lions hired him as their defensive coordinator back in 2014.

We’ll have more regarding the Packers’ defensive coordinator search as the news is available.
