Packers Likely To Place Rookie OLB Vince Biegel On PUP List

A source tells Ryan Wood of Packersnews.com reports that Packers rookie OLB Vince Biegel will “probably” open the season the team’s PUP list.

Biegel underwent foot surgery a few weeks after being drafted to correct a Jones fracture and hasn’t returned to the practice field this summer. Add in the fact that Green Bay is signing veteran OLB Ahmad Brooks to a one-year and it’s clear that Biegel was likely going to be placed on the PUP list at the start of the season.

This will cost Biegel the first six weeks of the 2017 season, but should at least buy him some to get ready to contribute later, barring a setback.

Biegel, 23, was selected with the No. 108 overall pick by the Packers in this year’s NFL Draft. Green Bay actually got this pick for trading out of round one with the Browns.

According to OverTheCap.com, Biegel receives a four-year contract worth $3,093,748, which includes a signing bonus of $693,748.

During his college career at Wisconsin, Biegel recorded 131 tackles, 28.5 tackles for a loss, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses over the course of 36 games.
