Packers Place NT B.J. Raji On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

Update:

Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that the Packers have in fact placed NT B.J. Raji on season-ending injured reserve after he tore his bicep last week.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Packers NT B.J. Raji is out for the season with a torn bicep injury.

  • Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported earlier in the day that despite the optimism last night, there wasn’t “a lot of optimism” regarding the injury and Raji’s season could be “in doubt.”

This certainly hurts for Green Bay as they don’t have much depth behind him. They signed former Viking Letroy Guion to handle this role, but he has yet to practice because of a hamstring injury.

If the Packers need some immediate help, Tom Silverstein mentioned last night that Ryan Pickett, who has spent a number of years with the Packers, is available and would make “perfect sense” to bring in.

Raji, 28, was hoping to cash in on the open market, but he was later forced to sign a one-year contract worth just $4 million with the Packers. This injury won’t help his chances of securing a solid long-term contract next year, but could increase his chances of returning to the Packers.
