North Carolina TE Eric Ebron told reporters on Thursday that he has meeting scheduled with the Packers and Ravens for later today, per Matt Zenitz.
Every player at the Scouting Combine will meet several teams in the next few days, but it’s interesting to see the Ravens and Packers are giving consideration to Ebron who is considered to be the No. 1 tight end prospect in this year’s draft class.
It’s hard to say if Ebron would even be on the board by the time the Ravens or Packers would be on the clock, but there should be a number of team looking to trade back, so there is at least a small chance someone like Green Bay could move up for the right guy.
Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com mentioned earlier in the day that Wisconsin OL Ryan Groy has already met with the Packers.
The Packers could really use help at tight end, especially with the question marks surrounding Jermichael Finley who will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.

Amaro seems like the more natural hands catcher but Ebron is the athletic physical freak (perhaps like Vernon Davis). I think if you believe he’s (Ebron) a rare talent who has unique speed and athleticism, a move up could pay dividends in the long run. However, this draft is loaded with very, very good talent in the first 3-4 rounds and I would hate to see Green Bay give up those choices to target one guy in Rd1 who doesn’t play ILB/ DT or FS. Unless of course, they plan to supplement their defense with mid level veteran Free Agents (experience vs youth). Also, Austin Sefarian Jenkins is an equal talent to Ebron and Amaro in my estimation (he does come with baggage, however).
I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. If I had to guess, I would expect Ted Thompson to move back rather than move up for a specific tight end. I really do think Ebron is going to be a good player at the next level.
Ebron’s a good TE, but I would take Texas Tech’s Jace Amaro ahead of him.
What makes you like Amaro more?
Ebron is probably the better all around TE, but IMO, Amaro is the better route runner and is perhaps more of a “go get it” TE. That’s just my opinion and I make it based upon the games I seen. To be fair, I saw more of Amaro than I did Ebron.
