Packers NT B.J. Raji’s Season In Doubt?

Update:

  • Raji is scheduled to undergo tests today to determine if it’s a full or partial tear.

Packers NT B.J. Raji suffered what was referred to as an arm injury last night, but after the game HC Mike McCarthy told reporters that Raji was optimistic about the injury.

However, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that despite the optimism last night, there is “not a lot of optimism” right now.

  • Rapoport mentions Raji’s season is “in doubt.”

Green Bay can’t afford to loose Raji for an extended period of time given that they don’t have much depth behind him. They signed former Viking Letroy Guion to handle this role, but he has yet to practice because of a hamstring injury.

If the Packers need some immediate help, Tom Silverstein mentioned last night that Ryan Pickett, who has spent a number of years with the Packers, is available and would make “perfect sense” to bring in.

Raji, 28, was hoping to cash in on the open market, but he was later forced to sign a one-year contract worth just $4 million with the Packers and hope to test free agency again next year.

We’ll have more as the news is available.
