Packers Phasing Donald Driver Out Of Their Offense?

The Green Bay Packers offense was held in check by an outstanding performance from the 49ers defense. The Packers receivers had their way with opponents last year, but seemed to struggled to make anything happen on Sunday.

For the Packers, the lone bright spot was Randall Cobb who looked very good in the team’s offense and on special teams. The expansion of Cobb’s role in Green Bay’s offense forced Donald Driver to the bench for nearly the entire game. In fact, Driver was only on the field for 3 snaps.

That’s the whole thing. I’m disappointed we lost the game,” said Driver, via ESPN Wisconsin. “I’m fine with everything else.”

Driver said that there had been no indication that he would be used sparingly against the 49ers this week, so it had to be a little surprising to spend that amount of time on the sidelines.

Barring an injury to one of the Packers top-four wide outs, Driver will most likely have a hard time securing a reasonable role in the team’s offense, despite the fact he was the one player that showed up in the Packers’ playoff loss to the Giants.
