Packers Pick Up S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s Fifth-Year Option

The Green Bay Packers have exercised S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s fifth-year option, according to Ian Rapoport.

The fifth-year option will run the Packers $5,957,000 million for the 2018 season, according to Joel Corry, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

Clinton-Dix has earned a long-term deal for the Packers and they have the cap space to lock him up to a new contract this summer if they want to go that route.

Clinton-Dix, 24, was taken with the No. 21 overall pick by the Packers back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $8,338,501 contract and stands to make a base salary of $778,534 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Clinton-Dix appeared all 16 games for the Packers and recorded 80 tackles, a half sack, five interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 safety out of 90 qualifying players.
