Packers Place DT Josh Boyd On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote LB Joe Thomas

The Green Bay Packers announced Monday that they’ve placed DT Josh Boyd on season-ending injured reserve and signed LB Joe Thomas to their active roster.

Initial reports suggested that Boyd had only broke a “small” bone in his ankle during Sunday night’s win over the Seahawks. However,  Ian Rapoport later reported that an MRI revealed Boyd had torn ankle ligaments as well as a broken bone.

It was clear that Boyd had a serious injury, after his teammates immediately called to the sideline for help. Boyd was later carted off the field in tears.

Boyd, 26, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.25 million rookie contract that included a $160,300 signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 over the next two years.
