Packers Placing LB Nick Perry On Injured Reserve, Promote DL James Looney

Field Yates reports that the Packers have placed LB Nick Perry on the season-ending injured reserve on Saturday.

  • The Packers have promoted DL James Looney in a corresponding roster move.

Perry missed the team’s Week 11 game against the Seahawks due to knee injury. He was on the physically unable to perform list over the offseason with an ankle injury, so it does not appear that they are related.

Perry, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before testing the open market for the first time and eventually returning to Green Bay on a five-year, $60 million contract that included an $18.5 million signing bonus.

Perry stands to make base salaries of $1.9 million and $5.2 million over the next two years.

In 2018, Perry has appeared in nine games for the Packers and recorded 24 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 100 overall edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
