Packers Promote Eliot Wolf To Director Of Football Ops & Brian Gutekunst To Director Of Player Personnel

The Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson announced Monday that he has promoted Eliot Wolf to director of football operations and Brian Gutekunst to director of player personnel.

Wolf has been with the Packers for 13 seasons and worked his way up from pro personnel assistant to his most recent position as director of player personnel.

There was a lot of buzz about Wolf being an attractive general manager target for opening back in January. However, there really wasn’t any indication of him leaving Green Bay for a different position.

Many have said that Wolf is likely to be a strong internal candidate to eventually replace GM Ted Thompson at some point.

Gutekunst is also considered a future GM in waiting, so the Packers are doing what they can to maintain front office continuity after losing a number of executives to GM positions including John Schneider, John Dorsey and Reggie McKenzie.
