Packers Promote Tom Clements To Offensive Coordinator

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy referred to today’s decision to promoted QBs coach Tom Clements to offensive coordinator as as “obvious decision” following Joe Philbin‘s departure for Miami.

Clements was being courted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and even received interviews for a number of head coaching vacancies last month but chose to accept the Packers job. So far, Green Bay has done a pretty good job of maintaining their coaching staff without being purged by other teams.

Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn have credited their development to Clements quarterback’s camp that the team hold’s during training camp each year. McCarthy is still expected to be the team’s play caller next season which he has done since arriving in Green Bay. Overall, it’s a great move the Packers.
