Packers Promote WR Max McCaffrey, Placed C/G J.C. Tretter On Injured Reserve

The Green Bay Packers announced they have promoted WR Max McCaffrey to their active roster and placed C/G J.C. Tretter on injured reserve.

McCaffrey, 25, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in May. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders before he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

McCaffrey tried out for several teams over the course of the season before signing on with the Packers last month.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his college career at Duke, McCaffrey caught 117 passes for 1,341 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.

Tretter, 25, is a former fourth-round pick by the Packers in the 2013 NFL Draft. He is in the final year of a four-year, $2,575,908 rookie contract and is set to be an unrestricted free agent.

Tretter underwent knee surgery last Tuesday, so he was clearly unavailable for the Packers’ NFC Championship game.

In 2016, Tretter appeared in six games for the Packers and Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 10 overall center.
