Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Underwent Knee Surgery After Playoff Loss

Jason Wilde and Rob Demvosky are reporting that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers underwent arthroscopic knee surgery shortly after their playoff loss to the Cardinals.

The procedure was reportedly a minor scope, according to the report. One source described the scope as a “clean-up of an old injury.

Rodgers elected to bow out of this year’s Pro Bowl due to injury, but this is the first we’ve heard about him having a knee injury.

The Packers struggled to protect Rodgers in 2015, so he took his fair share of hits. Someone wondered if Rodgers was 100 healthy throughout the year, given that he wasn’t playing at the same level that many had become custom to seeing.

Rodgers, 32, is entering the fourth year of his seven-year, $130.75 million contract that included $54 million guaranteed.

He stands to make base salaries of $11.5 million (2016), $12.55 million (2017) $19.8 million (2018) and $20 million (2019) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2015, Rodgers threw for 3,821 yards while completing 60.7 percent of his passes to go along with 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the Packers over the course of 16 games. He also contributed 344 yards rushing and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
