Packers Re-Signing RB James Starks To A Two-Year, $6M Deal

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Packers are re-signing RB James Starks to a new deal.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Starks receives a two-year contract worth $6 million from the Packers.
  • Tom Pelissero adds that Starks’ new deal includes a $1.5 million signing bonus and other incentives.

Starks previously visited with the Patriots, but he wound up leaving New England without a contract. The Dolphins reportedly had interest in signing Starks as well, but it looks like he’ll once gain return to Green Bay to continue his career as a Packer.

Starks, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Packers back in 2010. He has spent all six years of his career in Green Bay and is once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Starks ran for 601 yards on 148 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 43 receptions for 392 yards receiving and five total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 59 running back out of 69 qualifying players.
