Packers Remain In A “Holding Pattern” Regarding Re-Signing Ryan Pickett & Johnny Jolly

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, the Packers remain in a “holding pattern” regarding free agent defensive linemen Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly.

Demovsky expects them to wait until after the draft to decide on either players, but mentions that Jolly’s neck injury is “recovering nicely” and shouldn’t be an issue.

Packers’ HC Mike McCarthy mentioned during the Scouting Combine that he wasn’t ready to close the door on Pickett returning next year.

“I think [Pickett] has a little bit left,” said McCarthy. “This has really been the healthiest he’s been. He’s done a good job taking care of himself.

Pickett, 34, was one of the only free agent acquisitions from Packers GM Ted Thompson during his tenure in Green Bay.

Last year, Pickett appeared in all 16 games for Green Bay and totaled 21 tackles. Pro Football Focus had Pickett rated as the No. 53 defensive tackle in the league last season.
