Packers Remain Interested In Re-Signing FB John Kuhn

Packers HC Mike McCarthy mentioned earlier in the week that they remain interested in re-signing free agent FB John Kuhn.

“Absolutely,” McCarthy said when asked if Kuhn still has value, via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “…I’ve always looked at the fullback and tight end position as one. I feel you have to have flexibility and versatility within those two positions. It keeps you in and out of a number of different personnel groups.

Kuhn has said previously that he would like to remain in Green Bay, although he indicated that he was prepared to test the free agent market.

Green Bay has always places a large emphasis on retaining their free agent players, but given that Kuhn plays a position of little market value and the fact that he’s well into his thirties, it appears as though the Packers would only be willing to pay him a limited salary.

Kuhn, 32, has spent the past eight seasons with the Packers and is finishing out his one-year, $1.03 million contract.

In 2014, Kuhn ran for 85 yards on 24 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with four receptions and 23 yards receiving and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 10 fullback out of 23 qualifying players.
