Packers Would Have “Strong Interest” In Adrian Peterson If Asking Price Comes Down

A Packers source tells Jason Cole of B/R that they would have “strong interest” in free agent RB Adrian PetersonĀ if his asking price were to come down.

Cole mentions that Green Bay is among the teams who make regular use of a fullback in their offense and could easily find a way to fit Peterson into their offensive attack. Cole adds that the Packers would have happy to have a motivated Peterson on their roster in 2017.

Green Bay has been linked to Peterson in recent weeks, but they elected to pass on bringing him in for a visit. Although, others have said that a meeting could take place after the draft.

Last weekend, Peterson mentioned thatĀ he’s in “no rush” to sign with another team and also denied reports that he’s seeking as much as $8 million per year in his next contract.

The Raiders and Giants have also come up as potential landing spots for Peterson since free agency opened a few weeks ago, but it appears as though Oakland may prefer other options including Marshawn Lynch. There has been a lot of talk about the Giants adding a power running back, but there hasn’t been any indication that Peterson could be a serious option for them.

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $11.75 million to go along with a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.

Peterson is testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Peterson hasĀ rushed for 72 yards on 37 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with three receptions for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns over the course of three games.
