Packers Rule Out Clay Matthews, Expect Jordy Nelson To Play

The Green Bay Packers have ruled out OLB Clay Matthews for Week 11’s game against the Lions.

Matthews suffered a hamstring injury two weeks ago, which is something that has bothered him over the course of his career. The Packers have a number of injuries to their defense, so it will be hard for them to generate much of pass rush without Matthews in the lineup.

Head coach Mike McCarthy mentioned that WR Jordy Nelson has looked like his “normal self” during Wednesday’s practice and is expected to play this weekend, per Dave Birkett.

The Packers have been hinting that Nelson would be available, so this isn’t all that surprising. Nelson was dealing with injuries to his hamstring and ankle, but he should be a full go on Sunday.
