Packers Sign GM Ted Thompson To Multi-Year Extension

The Green Bay Packers have announced that they have signed GM Ted Thompson to a multi-year contract extension.

“I’m pleased that we were able to enter into this contract extension with Ted,” Packers president Mark Murphy said. “His outstanding work has been the key factor in the success that we’ve enjoyed in recent years. I have tremendous respect for Ted, and am confident that we will continue to contend for championships under his leadership.”

This comes just a few days after Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network mentioned that after speaking to “key people” in the Packers’ organization, he’s “more convinced than ever” that Thompson had no plans to retire.

Murphy also made it clear that keeping Thompson was their “top priority” before addressing HC Mike McCarthy.

It would make sense for Green Bay to get an extension in place with McCarthy in the coming months so that the two of them are aligned and taken care off.

McCarthy and Thompson have been a very successful tandem in Green Bay that has resulted in numerous playoff appearances and a Super Bowl title in 2011.
