Packers Sign QB Aaron Rodgers To A Five-Year Extension

The Green Bay Packers announced that they have signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension.

“Aaron is a true professional and a special player,” GM Ted Thompson said. “He works hard, is humble, and is focused on his actions, on and off the field. He is an excellent teammate and pushes himself and others to be the very best. We are happy to reach an agreement to extend his career with the Packers.

  • Tom Silverstein reports that Rodgers receives a five year deal worth $110 million.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Rodgers will receive $40 million in the first year and $62 million over the first three years.
  • Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers deal will in fact make him the highest paid player in league history.

Rodgers, 29, had two years and $17.5 million left on his current contract, so the contract actually comes out to seven-year deal worth $130.75 million. This means he will average $18.68 million, which is actually less per year than what Joe Flacco received.

We’re still waiting to hear how much guaranteed money is included.
