Packers Sign WR Jordy Nelson To A Four-Year, $39M Extension

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Packers have reached an agreement with WR Jordy Nelson on a four-year extension.

  • Nelson’s contract is worth a total value of $39 million and includes $14.2 million guaranteed.
  • According to Rapoport, Nelson will make an average base salary of $9.76 million in this deal.
  • He’ll also receive an $11.5 million signing bonus.

Recent reports mentioned that Nelson was targeting $10 million annually in his next contract, so it looks like he and his agent were able to come very close to that figure.

This contract will now place Nelson in the top-10 highest paid receivers in the NFL.

Nelson, 29, signed a four-year contract worth $13.9 million that included just $5 million guaranteed with the Packers back in 2011, which has proved be one of the most team-friendly contracts signed in recent years.

Nelson’s three-year average stats include 67 receptions for 1,107 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns, and that’s despite being missing four games due to injury, and playing a seven-game stretch with guys like Seneca Wallace, Scott Tolzien and Matt Flynn throwing him the ball.

We had Nelson listed as the No. 7 player in our Top 25 – 2015 NFL Free Agents list.
