Packers Signing CB Bashaud Breeland

Rob Demovsky reports that the Packers are signing CB Bashaud Breeland to a contract on Tuesday.

It was clear that the Packers were going to sign a cornerback after the news surfaced that Davon House was being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder issue.

Breeland and David Amerson were among the cornerbacks who tried out for Green Bay on Tuesday.

Breeland, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.706 million contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

Back in March, Breeland and the Panthers agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal that includes $11 million guaranteed and $9.5 million fully guaranteed. However, he later failed a physical due to a foot injury.

In 2017, Breeland appeared in 14 games for the Redskins and recorded 48 tackles, one interception returned for a touchdown and 16 pass defenses. He also contributed 280 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 54 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
