Packers Signing ILB Korey Toomer, Placing WR Jake Kumerow On IR

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Packers are signing ILB Korey Toomer to a contract on Monday, placing WR Jake Kumerow on injured reserve and waiving CB Herb Waters.

Toomer, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent his rookie season on the Seahawks practice squad before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Cowboys.

Toomer has had stints with the Cowboys, Rams, Raiders, and Chargers over the past three years before signing on with the 49ers back in April. Unfortunately, the 49ers elected to release Toomer this past weekend as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

In 2017, Toomer appeared in 15 games for the Chargers and recorded 48 tackles, one sack, an interception returned for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses.

Kumerow, 26, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin-Whitewater back in 2015. He was on and off the team’s practice squad during his rookie season but returned to the Bengals on a future/reserve contract last January.

Kumerow was on and off of the Bengal’s roster the past few years before signing on to the Patriots’ practice squad during the 2017 season. He eventually joined the Packers and returned to Green Bay on a futures contract this past January.

Kumerow has yet to appear in an NFL game.
