Packers Sign Veteran DL Quinton Dial, Waive DL Christian Ringo

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Packers are signing veteran DL Quinton Dial to a contract on Tuesday.

The Packers brought Dial in for a workout on Tuesday and apparently liked what they saw from him. It’s interesting to see the Packers continue to sign veteran players to contract, but it appears as though they may have changed their approach toward rounding out their roster this year.

Dial, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was entering the second year of a  four-year, $12.675 million contract that included $5.3 million guaranteed and set to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season when the 49ers released him on Saturday as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

In 2016, Dial appeared in 14 games for the 49ers and recorded 36 tackles and two pass defenses.

Ringo, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Packers back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but was later signed to their practice squad and eventually brought back on a future/reserve contract last year.

The Packers re-signed Ringo to a one-year, exclusive rights contract worth $615,000 this past April

In 2016, Ringo appeared seven games for the Packers and recorded two tackles, a forced fumble and no sacks.
