Packers Trade DE Jerel Worthy To The Patriots For A Late-Round Pick

Update:

Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette confirms that the Packers and Patriots trade for DE Jerel Worthy is conditional upon him making New England’s final 53-man roster.

  • Dougherty adds that the Packers would receive a future seventh-round pick from the Patriots.

The Packers are trading DE Jerel Worthy to the Patriots in return for a late-round pick, according to his agent Chafie Fields.

As Fields mentioned, the trade is pending a physical.

Rob Demovsky reports that Worthy will need to make the Patriots 53-man roster in order for the packers to receive a future draft pick.

Worthy, 24, is a former second-round pick who has yet to live up to his draft status. There has been talk that he could be on the roster bubble now that the Packers have added more depth at defensive line, so this move isn’t a huge shock.

Worthy is coming off of a season-ending ACL injury, so it will be interesting to see if he’s able to carve out a role on the Patriots roster in the coming weeks.
