Packers & Vikings Interested In Dolphins STs Coordinator Darren Rizzi, MIA Hoping To Retain Him

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins are permitting special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi to speak to other teams.

According to Pelissero, the Vikings and Packers are among the interested teams in Rizzi, but Miami is still hoping to retain him as part of Brian Flores‘ coaching staff.

Rizzi actually interviewed for the Dolphins’ head-coaching and is very respected by members of the team.

Rizzi, 48, began his coaching career at Colgate back in 1993. He worked for a number of schools before being hired as Rhode Island’s head coach for the 2008 season.

Rizzi lasted just one year at Rhode Island and led the team to a record of 3-9 before he was replaced.

The Dolphins hired Rizzi as their special teams coordinator in 2010 and he’s remained in the position ever since.

According to FootballOutsiders, the Dolphins’ special teams unit ranked No. 21 in the league.
