The Green Bay Packers officially placed rookie QB Joe Callahan on waivers Thursday.
The Packers likely need this roster spot for DT Mike Pennel and CB Demetri Goodson, who have served their four-game suspensions.
Callahan, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Wesley College back in May. He was able to make the 53-man roster as the team’s No. 3 quarterback coming out of the preseason.
During the preseason, Callahan threw for 499 yards while completing 61.4 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
