Packers Waive RB Brandon Burks, Try Out G Blake Muir

The Green Bay Packers officially waived RB Brandon Burks on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the packers tried out G Blake Muir.

This comes just a day after the Packers shockingly cut Pro Bowl G Josh Sitton, creating a hole in their offensive line to be filled.

Burks, 22, wound up going undrafted out of Troy before signing three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers. It appeared as though Burks was going to be the Packers’ No. 3 running back before they made a waiver claim earlier in the day.

Muir, 25, wound up going undrafted out of Baylor back in May before signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the 49ers. He was set to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2016 season when he was waived as the 49ers trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Muir cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent.
