Packers Worked Out Rookie P Taylor Symmank

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Packers brought in P Taylor Symmank for a workout on Wednesday.

This comes just a few days after the brought in rookie K Brent Wahle for a workout, so they’re clearly keeping tabs on specialists in case they need to sign someone down the road.

Many have wondered whether Green Bay would bring in some competition for veteran P Tim Masthay, considering that he’s struggled some in recent years. However, the Packers are at the 90-man limit after signing CB Warren Gatewood to a contract today.

Symmank wound up going undrafted out of Texas Tech. There was some talk that he could sign with the Vikings, but they never got him under contract.

During his college career at Texas Tech, Symmank totaled 4,325 punt yards on 99 attempts (43.7 average) over the course of 24 games.
