Ian Rapoport reports that it appear as though the Packers and WR Randall Cobb have “dodged a bullet” with his shoulder injury during Saturday’s preseason game.

  • According to Rapoport, Cobb was telling teammates that it’s minor and likely just a sprain.

Cobb will still undergo further testing on Sunday, but X-Rays showed that he does not have a broken collarbone.

“We’re just taking it day by day and we’ll find out more tomorrow,” Cobb said, via Rob Demovsky.

There was some concern that Cobb may have sustained a broken collarbone, but it appears as though there’s a chance he could be ready for Week 1.

Former NFL physician David Chao mentioned that it was unlikely to be a serious injury, and probably just an AC joint sprain based on the video available online.

It’s an understatement to say that Green Bay can’t afford to lose Cobb for any period of time after they lost Jordy Nelson for the season with a torn ACL last week.

Cobb, 25, is in the first year of his new four-year, $40 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of just $1.2 million for the 2015 season. Although, he received a substantial portion of money in the form of a signing bonus.

In 2014, Cobb put together a breakout season in which he caught a career high 91 passes for 1,287 yards receiving and 122 touchdowns.

We’ll have more updates regarding Cobb and his injury as the news is available.
