Panthers Also Working Out Veteran S Stevie Brown

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Panthers are also bringing in veteran S Stevie Brown for a workout on Friday.

This comes after the news that Donte Whitner is going to be trying out for them today.

The Chiefs got an early start on roster cuts this week, which led to them releasing Brown.

Brown, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2010. He bounced around a bit at the start of his career playing for the Raiders, Panthers and Colts before eventually signing on with the Giants in 2012.

After two years with the Giants, Brown signed a one-year deal with the Texans in April of last year. However, Houston cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The Giants, who were in need of some safety help at the time, elected to bring Brown back for a just over a week before they released him at the start of the season.

Brown wound up signing a one-year, $760,000 deal with the Chiefs back in April.

In 2014, Brown appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 47 safety out of 87 qualifying players that year.
