Panthers DE Greg Hardy Will Practice This Week

Panthers HC Ron Rivera announced Monday that DE Greg Hardy is back with the team and his situation will be evaluated in the this week.

“Greg’s with the team, we’re gonna go through this week and evaluate the circumstances of the situation,” Rivera said, per Albert Breer.

Rivera admitted that “changes in the climate” led to the decision to sit Hardy out of Week 2.

“I don’t know if it was new information as much as it was changes in the climate,” Rivera said, per Jeff Darlington.

If you play him and you win, you don’t have a conscience,” Rivera said of the decision to play or sit Hardy. “You play him and you lose it’s a distraction.”

Rivera also mentioned that owner Jerry Richardson and GM Dave Gettleman were involved in the decision as well.

Hardy was deactivated by the Panthers just a few hours before kickoff on Sunday as pressure from the public and media began to mount. However, the Panthers’ defense play just fine with Hardy out of the lineup against a decent Lions’ offense.

We’ll have to see if anything changes this week or if the Panthers will allow him to play in Week 3’s game, despite the fact that he has already been charged for domestic violence. It’s worth mentioning that Hardy is currently appearing the ruling.
