Panthers Expected To Make A Run At Signing Free Agent S Barry Church

Bill Voth of the Black & Blue Review reports that the Panthers are expected to make a run at signing Cowboys free agent S Barry Church in the coming days.

If things don’t worth out with Church, Voth suggests John Cyprien or D.J. Swearinger as other potential targets.

Earlier in the day, Charles Robinson reported that Church is expected to exceed $5 million per season and possibly more than that on the open market.

Church, 29, wound up signing on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract and later signed a four-year extension with Dallas.

In 2016, Church appeared in 12 games for the Cowboys and recorded 85 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 safety out of 89 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
