Panthers Free Up $5.1M Of Cap Room By Reworking Luke Kuechly’s Deal

Field Yates reports that the Panthers have converted $6.8 million of LB Luke Kuechly‘s contract into a signing bonus, which creates $5.1 million of cap space in 2018.

Kuechly, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Panthers back in 2012. He’s currently in the fourth year of his six-year, $64.105 million contract and set to make base salaries of $7.6 million and $10 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Kuechly appeared in 15 games for the Panthers and recorded 125 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble, two recoveries, a defensive touchdown and six pass defenses.
