Panthers HC Ron Rivera Wins Coach of the Year

Panthers HC Ron Rivera has been voted the 2013 Associated Press Coach of the Year.

  • Chiefs HC Andy Reid finished in second place with Patriots HC Bill Belichick coming in third.

Rivera recently signed a four-year extension worth $11.2 million with the Panthers after he entered the season on the hot seat. His tenure started off pretty rocky as he led them to a 13-19 record during his first two seasons in Carolina, which was highlighted by the fact that they were 2-12 in one-score games.

This season, Rivera managed to not only get the into the playoffs, but helped them secure the No. 2 overall seed while finishing with a 12-4 regular-season record.
