Panthers & Jets Showing Interest In Hue Jackson For Offensive Coordinator Vacancies

The Panthers have asked for permission to interview Hue Jackson for their offensive coordinator opening, according to Albert Breer.

Breer adds that the Jets have also expressed interest in Jackson running their offense.

Joe Person reports that sources have informed him that Carolina also plans to give Pat Shurmur a look at the offensive coordinator position now that Rob Chudzinski has left to become the head coach of the Browns.

Jackson worked as assistant with the Bengals this season and was the the head coach of the Raiders back in 2011. It’s actually been a little surprising to see how little interest there’s been in him to this point.

As for Shurmur, there were reports that he could end up on Andy Reid’s coaching staff in Kansas City, but Reid ultimately tabbed Doug Pederson for their offensive coordinator job and brought in Brad Childress as an assistant.
