Panthers Place FB Devon Johnson On I.R. After Clearing Waivers

A league source tells NFLTR that the Carolina Panthers have placed RB Devon Johnson on injured reserve after he passed through waivers unclaimed on Friday.

Johnson, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Marshall back in May. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Panthers and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

During his four-year college career at Marshall, Johnson ran for 2,373 yards on 305 carries (7.8 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 423 yards receiving and 31 total touchdowns. He originally placed linebacker before switching to tight end and fullback for his final two seasons.
