Brockel, 29, originally signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State back in 2010. However, he lasted just a few months in San Diego before he later caught on with the Panthers the following year.
Brockel is in the final year of his two-year, $1.610 million contract that included a $75,000 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $750,000 before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.
This season, Brockel has appeared in two games, but didn’t record a single reception.
Simonson, 23, originaly signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption College back May of last year. He was unable to make Oakland’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.
The Raiders elected to place him on waivers last week to make room for some new additions.
In 2014, Simonson appeared in four games for the Raiders, but didn’t record a single statistic.
