Panthers Placing TE Chris Manhertz On PUP List

Panthers GM Marty Hurney announced Tuesday that TE Chris Manhertz will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list after he underwent surgery this summer for Jones fracture in his left foot, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Carolina is still hopeful that Manhertz will be ready to return before the start of the regular season.

Manhertz suffered the foot fracture during the team’s minicamp.

Manhertz, 26, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Canisius back in 2014. After one year in Buffalo, Manhertz signed on with the Saints during the preseason and later returned to New Orleans on a future/reserve contract.

The Saints waived him back in October of last year and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Panthers. Manhertz finished out the season on the injured reserve list with a high ankle sprain.

In 2017, Manhertz appeared in all 16 games and caught two passes for 17 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
