Panthers Plan To Active DE Charles Johnson From I.R. This Week

Panthers HC Ron Rivera told reporters on Monday that their plan right now is to activate DEĀ Charles Johnson from short-term injured reserve this week.

This would allow Johnson to be active for their Thanksgiving day game against the Cowboys.

Carolina placed Johnson on injured reserve with the designation to return after he sufferedĀ hamstring injury.

They later tradedĀ for veteran DE Jared AllenĀ to bolster their defensive line depth while he was out.

Johnson, 29, is in the fifth year of his six-year, $76 million contractĀ that includedĀ $32 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary ofĀ $9.75 million this year and anotherĀ $10.75 million in 2016 as part of this agreement.

This season, Johnson has appeared in three games and recorded five tackles and a sack for the Panthers.
